Welcome to Sustainability School!

This educational video series brings together PCFO staff, technical consultants, and experts from partner organizations to break down key topics related to climate and clean energy in Ohio. Whether you’re a local leader, community advocate, or just curious about sustainability, these videos provide clear, actionable insights to help Ohio communities advance clean energy solutions and build a healthier, more equitable, and resilient future.

Climate Action Plans

Climate Action Plans are roadmaps that help communities reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and build toward a more prosperous future. By understanding current emissions and setting clear goals and strategies to implement clean energy, transportation, and sustainability solutions, these plans drive local action that benefits the environment, boosts economic growth, and improves the quality of life for all residents.

Transportation

Transportation is one of Ohio's largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, but local communities are embracing solutions to drive change. By expanding (and electrifying) public transit, promoting walkable communities and greenspace, and investing in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, local leaders can take action to cut emissions and create more sustainable, connected communities.

Community Solar and Virtual Net Metering

Community Solar is expanding access to renewable energy in Ohio, allowing more residents and businesses to benefit from clean power sources, even without installing solar panels on their homes or property. Through virtual net metering, participants can receive credits on their electricity bills for the energy generated by shared solar projects, making clean energy more affordable and accessible for all.

The Electric Grid and Community Aggregation

Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is a powerful tool to help communities meet sustainability goals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. CCA provides communities with the "buying power" to choose renewable energy sources like solar or wind and local generation that benefits Ohio's economy and workforce.

Energy Burden and Environmental Justice

Access to clean, affordable energy is not equal across Ohio, and many communities disproportionately face the impacts of pollution, environmental degradation, and high energy burdens. Environmental justice means addressing these inequities by ensuring that all residents—regardless of income or zip code—can benefit from clean, affordable, and reliable energy solutions.

Next Steps

Communities across Ohio are leading the way toward a cleaner, healthier future. By investing in clean energy solutions, reducing emissions, and committing to environmental justice today, we can lay the foundation for resilient, prosperous, and equitable communities for generations to come. Much work remains to build our clean energy future, but PCFO is here to help.
